Hurricane Sandy

4:30 PM

So I know I promised more posts in my last post, but this week has been a bit hectic to say the least; New York City is definitely in a recovery period from Hurricane Sandy. I am grateful that I have had power this past week, FIT was on the boarder of people who didn't along with the rest of lower manhattan which is still in shambles.  I decided to take a walk the other day to check out the damage, and the lively city just wasn't the same. The areas without power were just eerie, no one was on the streets, not even in popular places such as Union Square.

This is a building on 14th street and 8th ave, the entire front of the building fell off.

I didn't make it to downtown, obviously all methods of transportation have been cut off; when I took this walk the busses were just starting to come back and none of them went low enough for me to check out how downtown was doing.

As sad as this event was, I have never been so proud to be a New Yorker. As a New Yorker we have a certain mentality, and its good to see people come together and help each other out in this time of need.

Power is just starting to come back to part of downtown today, hopefully we can all go back to normal in the next few weeks to come. My blessings to everyone who got hit by the storm.
