5th Avenue Madness8:21 PM
What can I saw about 5th avenue during the holidays, other than it makes me feel like a kid again. Before two years ago I had no idea that large department stores got all festive during the holiday season until my boyfriend showed me the 5th ave windows; since then its become somewhat of a tradition to walk up the festive mobbed avenue with a bag of roasted peanuts (yes they are necessary).
Walking past the large glass windows observing the manniquines dressed in designers clothing such as McQueen and Lavin makes me feel like Ralphie in front of Higbee's staring at the Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. (If you don't understand this then go watch A Christmas Story). So amazing yet so unattainable, at least fashion wont shoot my eye out.
We somehow passed Barneys, and we were too tired once we got up to 59th street to check them out that night so unfortunately no photos of disney in designer goods. Every year I look forward to ultra detailed ones Bergdorf Goodman puts up. Not only are the mannequins mostly dressed in Alexander McQueen and Marchesa but from window to window its like entering another world, they tell a story.
Although they are never "Christmas" themed like Lord and Taylors , I love the mystery of them, its amazing how detailed these windows are, they definitely go all out.
Just wanted to post a few for you, if you are in NYC and get a chance, go check it out. If you want to see a few from last years windows check out my Flickr.
